WHAT WE DO
WordPress Web Design & Development in Surrey
The team at Akiko Design have designed, developed and continue to host & support over 200 WordPress websites for a wide range of clients across Surrey and the United Kingdom, including Davis Coffer Lyons, Ikawa & Moore Barlow.
Launched in 2003, WordPress is the most popular content management system now powering over 40% of the top 10 million websites on the internet. The popularity of this open-source platform, is down to a number of factors:
Client Control
WordPress makes it extremely easy for our clients to update and take control of their own websites. Once Akiko have created a website and provided basic training, clients are able to edit all aspects of their website content.
Gutenberg is the default editing tool for WordPress that makes the life of the WordPress administrator even easier. It’s a drag & drop page builder that minimises the need for any programming knowledge. It provides a wide range of ‘content blocks’ that are used to piece together new webpages or update existing ones.
Scalability with WordPress Plugin Directory
There are over 50,000 open-source plugins available for free on the WordPress plugin directory, and new plugins are constantly in development, that allow Akiko to add new functionality quickly and cost effectively for our clients.
Security & Maintenance
The WordPress core and its plugins are constantly updated to offer new features and patch known security vulnerabilities, so we ensure that our clients are always running the most secure, up-to-date versions as part of an ongoing maintenance package.
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
WordPress ‘out of the box’ is considered to be a good platform for SEO, however, it can be further improved with the use of a plugin such as Yoast SEO that ensures sites contain the type of content search engines love. Yoast SEO checks the content of pages and posts, and applies a score along with tips on how to improve their SEO performance.
App Development & Integration
Plugins are available to quickly and easily convert WordPress websites into full-featured mobile apps. Once built, the website and mobile app can be synchronised so all content changes appear automatically on both.
Future Proofing
Every piece of WordPress generated code is fully compliant with the standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). This means that websites powered by WordPress will remain compatible with the next generation of browsers.
