WordPress Website Development

Web developer editing a WordPress website

The team at Akiko Design have developed and hosted over 200 WordPress sites for a wide range of clients including Davis Coffer Lyons, Ikawa & Moore Barlow.

WordPress is the world’s most popular content management system powering nearly 40% of all websites on the internet. The popularity of this open source platform, is down to a number of factors:

Client control

WordPress makes it extremely easy for our clients to update and take control of their own websites. Once Akiko have created a website and provided basic training, clients are able to edit all aspects of their website.

Gutenberg is the default editing tool for WordPress that makes the life of the WordPress administrator even easier. It’s a drag & drop page builder that minimises the need for any programming knowledge. It provides a wide range of ‘content blocks’ that are used to piece together new webpages or update existing ones.

New plugins are constantly in development that allow Akiko to add new functionality quickly and cost effectively for our clients.

WordPress and its plugins are constantly updated so we can ensure that our clients are always running the most secure, up-to-date versions.

WordPress ‘out of the box’ is considered to be a good platform for SEO, however, it can be further improved with the use of a plugin such as Yoast SEO that ensures sites contain the type of content search engines love. Yoast SEO checks the content of pages and posts, and applies a score along with tips on how to improve their SEO performance.

App Development

Plugins are available to quickly and easily convert WordPress websites into full-featured mobile apps. Once built, the website and mobile app can be synchronised so all content changes appear automatically on both.

Future proofing

Every piece of WordPress generated code is fully compliance with the standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). This means that websites powered by WordPress will remain compatible with the next generation of browsers.
